Why Reservations?

Enter XYZ ltd. and you find some celebrations going on!You go ahead and ask the reason for the same. One of the team member has six IIM’s Calls;Calls from FMS,IIFT…Great! You go ahead and congratulate him..feeling a bit sad on why you could’nt do the same irrespective of your hardwork. Then comes result for MDI..and that BLACKI guy didnt make it to MDI…Now hows that possible???

MDI Being a semi private college doesnt have quota system and then you realise yes…Its the reservations which have brought him luck.

Such is the ill effects of this reservations that many a times the desreving candidates are left behind c/o this Quota. And this is not just with CAT or JEE…go ahead and you find their seats reserved at most govt. colleges, companies and even at places like plot allocations and etc etc.

Does the govt seriously believe that this is the way to bring up the people who belong to lower caste.I ask a ques, would this guy who comes out of IIM’s or become a IAS officer require that quota all his/her life.Would he and his family be always backward despite being part of the prestigious lot though undeservingly.

I am sure once he becomes a IAS officer or a IIM Passout he would no more be a backward class. But yes as per rules his sons/daughters will have that certificate which will improve their chances to reach sky yet again.I think its high time that govt takes some steps to change this scenario.

Probably now that its been more than 50 years that Indian Govt have given them advantage i believe its time the quota should be reduced by atleast 50%. The sole purpose of this quota is to help under developed society. So lets have quota for people whose income is less than XXX Rs/month. Let their sons/daughter have an advantage. The better part would be once these people become IIM Grads or IIT Passout they would earn more than XXXRs/month and hence woul automatically be out of the quota and thus some other wanting candidate would have the benefit. This  way the actual under developed people will get a chance to improve, unlike the same X% percent people whose sons and daughters are living on the heritage SC/ST Certificate…

I hope some body listens this and some steps are taken coz i am sure many deserving candidates lose out to this quota systems…and mind you not harvard not stanford have ne quotas…then y IIT’s and IIM’s.

Hi,
I was reading a couple of your posts and was a bit surprised as I made my way through this particular post.
“…that BLACKI guy…” from your post-now does that refer to your fictional co-worker’s name or it a reference to his skin color?
If so, then it seems to have been made in a poor taste; and that coming from someone that one day wants to manage people-most probably from a wide social and economic background-seems odd and immature. Hope it was a genuine oversight on your part.
